DESCRIPTION:University of Wisconsin-Madison\nMemorial Library\, Room 126\n728 State Street\nMadison\, WI \nFree and open to the public; no registration required to attend in person. \nRegister for the livestream here. \nView the symposium program here. \nGerman influences on wellness\, health\, and pharmaceuticals in America have a long history. In the 19th and early 20th centuries\, immigrants brought traditional healing practices and new medical knowledge with them\, while Americans traveled to German universities to study the latest scientific developments. For two days\, this symposium will bring together scholars from Europe and the United States to explore these transatlantic transfers of knowledge in the areas of home remedies and pharmaceuticals\, naturopathy and exercise\, midwifery\, and medical treatment.
