AIHP awards Certificates of Commendation annually to recognize activities or historical endeavors by individuals or organizations that (i) advance knowledge or understanding of the history of pharmacy and pharmaceuticals; or (ii) utilize the history of pharmacy and pharmaceuticals to address or advance understanding of contemporary issues. Certificates of Commendation are not intended to recognize individuals for academic achievements or peer-reviewed academic publications.

Nominations

Nominations for the Certificate of Commendations must include at least one letter of nomination outlining the nominee’s contributions based on the criteria below. To be considered for a Certificate, nominations must also include the nominee’s curriulum vitae (or similar biographical information) if applicable. To be considered, please email nominations to aihp@aihp.org by April 10.

Nominations for the award are evaluated on the basis of:

  • Creativity and Ingenuity: Originality of concept or execution.
  • Educational Value: Effectiveness in informing or engaging audiences.
  • Historical Substance: Accuracy and depth of historical content.
  • Public Engagement: Reach, accessibility, and inclusivity.
  • Contemporary Relevance: Use of history to illuminate current issues.
