The American Institute of the History of Pharmacy provides scholars, students, and history enthusiasts with unparalleled access to resources that illuminate the evolution of pharmacy. Whether you visit in person or explore our digital collections, AIHP supports your research journey.

Our collections are available for on-site research by appointment:

  • Hours: Monday-Friday, 9:00 am – 4:00 pm

Appointments Required: Email aihp@aihp.org to schedule. Walk-in visits cannot be accommodated due to limited staff availability.

Parking

  • Limited parking may be available in University Bay Drive Ramp (Lot 76) or in UW Hospital Ramp (Lot 75)

Transportation on UW Campus

  • The 80 bus is free and runs on campus stopping outside of AIHP offices
  • The Wisconsin Historical Society, UW-Madison University Archives, and UW-Madison Special Collections are also accessible along Route 80

Reading Room Guidelines

  • Researchers may bring into the reading room only:
    • Silenced cell phones
    • Digital cameras
    • Pencils and paper
    • Laptops or tablets without cases
    • Power cords
    • Headphones
  • Food and Drink are not allowed in the reading room.
  • Researchers should only wear gloves when working with photographs and metal objects.
  • Reproduction costs are available upon request.
