AIHP is pleased to welcome Bernie Olin, PharmD, to its Board of Directors as the Institute’s new Treasurer. Dr. Olin succeeds Dr. Holly Mason, who completed two consecutive three-year terms and has stepped down in accordance with term limits.

Bernie R. Olin, Pharm.D. is Associate Clinical Professor and Director, Drug Information and Learning Resource Center for Auburn University, Harrison College of Pharmacy.  He grew up in Kansas City, Kansas, attended the University of Kansas, then the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Pharmacy, where he received a B.S. in Pharmacy and a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.).  He then completed a clinical pharmacy/drug information residency at Truman Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri.

Bernie spent his first few years after graduation as Director of Drug Information at Tulane Medical Center and Clinics in New Orleans, Louisiana with an Assistant Professor appointment at Xavier College of Pharmacy and an adjunct appointment at Tulane Medical School.  He then went into medical/drug information publishing at Facts and Comparisons in St. Louis, Missouri where, for over 19 years, he held positions of Managing Editor, Editor-in-Chief and Director of Drug Information.  He led or participated in the publishing of over 40 books, newsletters and electronic products.  This also included over 70 separate editions and hundreds of weekly, monthly, quarterly and semi-annual updates to loose-leaf books, newsletters and electronic drug information sources.  He also began the transformation of a traditional print to electronic publisher.

Bernie returned to academia with his appointment at Auburn University.  His interests include the use and utilization of drug information resources by pharmacy and other health practitioners, and topics in pharmacy history.
