As Samantha wraps up her time with the American Institute of the History of Pharmacy (AIHP), we invited her to reflect on her experience and some of the moments that made her time with the Institute memorable.
As AIHP’s Communications Coordinator, Samantha helped share the Institute’s collections, research, and stories with a wider audience through social media, digital content, graphic design, and website updates. Before she begins her next chapter, we asked her to look back on the projects she enjoyed most, what she learned along the way, and what she’ll miss about AIHP.
What’s something you learned or will take away from your time at AIHP?
“I learned how much thoughtful design and communication can help bring history to life. I’ll definitely take that with me into my future work, especially the importance of making information feel engaging and accessible to different audiences.”
What was your favorite part or memory from working here?
“My favorite part was getting to work with such a supportive and creative team. I also loved having the freedom to try new ideas with AIHP’s social media, website, newsletters, and graphics and seeing those ideas come to life.”
Is there a project, artifact, or experience you worked on that stood out to you the most?
“One of the most rewarding parts was seeing AIHP’s social media grow and finding new ways to showcase the collection through design. I especially loved creating the Staff Favorite Artifact series because it gave me the chance to learn about different pieces in the collection while sharing the personal stories behind why they stood out to our team.”
What will you miss most about AIHP?
“Definitely the people! I’m going to miss working with everyone and being surrounded by so much interesting history. AIHP gave me the opportunity to grow creatively, take ownership of my work, and try things I hadn’t done before, and I’m really grateful for the experience.”
