As we recognize the many ways pharmacists and pharmacy professionals improve lives during American Pharmacists Month, AIHP is pleased to open nominations for two of its most distinguished honors: the George Urdang Medal and the AIHP Robert J. Fischelis Award.

The history of pharmacy is shaped not only by discoveries and innovations, but also by the individuals and organizations who preserve, interpret, and champion that history for future generations. These awards provide an opportunity to recognize those whose contributions have strengthened our understanding of pharmacy’s past and advanced the mission of AIHP. Nominations for the George Urdang Medal and AIHP Robert J. Fischelis Award are due January 22, 2027. Nomination materials should be submitted to aihp@aihp.org.

George Urdang Medal

The George Urdang Medal is AIHP’s highest recognition for lifetime achievement in pharmacy history, honoring individuals whose scholarship, leadership, and service have made a lasting impact on the field.

AIHP Robert J. Fischelis Award

The Fischelis Award recognizes an individual or organization whose work and actions have contributed significantly to the mission and organizational well-being of AIHP. This American Pharmacists Month, we invite you to reflect on the colleagues, mentors, advocates, scholars, and supporters who have helped preserve pharmacy’s heritage and inspire future generations. Consider nominating someone whose contributions deserve recognition.

While the George Urdang Medal and AIHP Robert J. Fischelis Award represent the Institute’s highest honors, AIHP also welcomes nominations for Certificates of Commendation and Student Recognition Certificates. These recognitions celebrate meaningful contributions to pharmacy history across a broad range of activities, organizations, and career stages.
