Two upcoming international conferences about the history of pharmacy may be of interest to AIHP members.

The British Society for the History of Pharmacy on March 26–28, 2021, is hosting the free online conference, “People, Places and Things:  A Compendium of Talks on Pharmacy History.”  Three lectures are planned for each day of the conference. Daily sessions will take place from 16:00 to 18:00 GMT (Noon to 2:00 pm EDT) with themed talks and discussions about:

  • People and Places
  • Reflecting on Pharmacy History Through Material Culture
  • Exploring Pharmacy’s Global History

Program organizers also plan to release a series of short videos, offering “behind the scenes” virtual tours of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society Museum, the Science Museum, and the Thackray Museum of Medicine.

The International Society for the History of Pharmacy on April 23–24, 2021, will host the two-day online symposium, “Projects and Prospects in Pharmaceutical History.” Read a preliminary program and see abstracts of planned presentations. The program is free, but registration via email to symposium@histpharm.org is necessary to receive log-in information for the online event. More information about the program will be posted on ISHP’s website as it becomes available.
